Accident involving pedestrian corner of Ingestre and St Hill St

Accident involving pedestrian corner of Ingestre and St Hill St

A pedestrian was injured on St Hill St near the corner of Ingestre St in Whanganui at around 4pm yesterday.

A witness said the young man stepped into path of the car as the driver was making a left hand turn into St Hill St.

Shaun Ruscoe who owns Autofix on Ingestre St said he heard the accident and it is the third one he has witnessed at the intersection within the past two years.

"I think there needs to be something done about the lights at that intersection," said Mr Ruscoe.

"Drivers and pedestrians don't seem to know who has the right of way and the lights don't let people know."

The pedestrian injured at yesterday's accident was taken to hospital by St John staff and there was no update on his condition last night.
