The Wanganui Community Choir packed out the Central Baptist Church on Saturday for its 25th anniversary concert.

Musical director Lynn Whiteside said more than 300 people attended the concert which was a big success.

Past members travelled to Whanganui to mark the occasion including founder Teiron Jones.

"He travelled down from Taranaki," Ms Whiteside said.

She said the was a lot of reminiscing. "We had a whole lot of scrapbooks for people to go through."

The club has 80 members and meets every Monday at Riverside Church for rehearsals, and performs twice a year.

The Ukulele Orchestra and the Wanganui Community Youth Choir also joined the concert.

"Really it was just a very successful concert I felt. And a big crowd who enjoyed it and we put on afternoon tea for everybody," Ms Whiteside said.

"It was just a really sort of festive occasion. It was a real community event. We were thrilled."
