Following in the footsteps of the now famous Koha Shed in Wanganui, a sister shed has been set up in Marton.
Belinda Harvey-Larsen brought the concept to her town after a stint helping out at the Wanganui branch in the aftermath of the June flood.
There she met the concept's founder, Sherron Sunnex.
"That's what inspired me," Mrs Harvey-Larsen said. "There are people looking for help here that don't have money. I came back here, looked around and saw there was a gap in our community."
Koha Shed is a place where people can drop off any unwanted household items, which are then available free for anyone who needs them.
