-Disposal of silt from private property is the owner's responsibility and it should not be put on the grass verge or road, as this may block the stormwater drainage system. Bullocks Yard in Taupo Quay is open to assist residents wishing to dispose of silt. All silt should be treated as potentially contaminated and people should wear rubber gloves and protective clothing.
-Residential sections that have been subject to floodwater and silt can be treated by spreading hydrated lime to remove odour and some contaminates.
-Those without insurance should contact Work and Income New Zealand.
-Civil Defence centre at Wanganui Girls' College is still open, and Red Cross psychological first aid assistance is ready to assist - the centre will be open over the weekend.
-Older people needing assistance or support, should contact Age Concern on 06 3451799.
-Evacuated residents needing long-term temporary accommodation should talk to Housing New Zealand at the Work and Income offices, Level 1, 133 Wicksteed Street - service available from midday on Thursday and then 9am-4pm.
Anyone, with a dwelling in a cordoned area, who is concerned about their pets should contact the Wanganui District Council on 06 349 0001.
