Wanganui children will be a lot warmer this winter - thanks to the Gonville Library's knitting group.
Yesterday the group handed over 311 items knitted specially for kids - 161 beanies, 61 cardigans, 49 toys, 7 blankets, 17 pairs of gloves, five scarfs, eight pairs of booties, and two baby onesies.
Group organiser Kelly Scarrow said it took the group of about 30 women and one man about a month to produce the garments.
"It's an astounding amount of work.
"I spent an hour counting up the garments yesterday, and I did it with a few tears in my eye and a lump in my throat. I couldn't believe how many items were made," Mrs Scarrow said.
