A rainy morning made for a gloomy start to the 33rd annual Wanganui Castrol Autumn Motorcycle Trial, but riders enjoyed the chance to hit the road on Saturday.
"They all enjoyed the ride," organiser Bill James said. "The first couple of hours was pretty tough in the pouring rain but after that it was good ... we all enjoyed it and we're looking forward to next year."
The rally saw 35 riders travelling from Wanganui East's Vintage Car Club to Okoia, Fordell, Turakina Valley, Halcombe, Hunterville, and back to Wanganui through country roads, Mr James said.
The average set speed was 38 miles per hour (about 61km/h), and riders needed to make the trip in a set time. The overall winner was the closest to the set time.
