Extra glitter, sparkle and fun will fill a 9-year-old Marton girl's Christmas this year.
Waiatata Ratana-Karehana of Marton Junction School has won TV2's What Now children's Christmas competition which means she will ride a float down Queen St in Auckland's Christmas parade.
Contestants had to design and make a model of what they thought Santa's ride in the Southern Hemisphere should look like.
Waiatata's winning design was a small cardboard sleigh of Santa riding a wave complete with a menacing shark's fin appearing in the water, a palm tree, a beach, a beach umbrella, part of a sandy beach and bright blue sky.
As the winner, she gets to take along another child and an adult who will be flown to Auckland on November 29 and spend the day being taken around by the What Now team to attractions, including Rainbow's End and Kelly Tarlton's Sea Life.
