Coach Kelvin Francis was beaming after his Wanganui City side walked away victors on Saturday.
Not only had his team put on a stellar showing on the park against Levin AFC to run out 4-2 winners, but they had secured the Western Premiership title after putting themselves well out of reach of the chasing pack with a 10-point buffer between themselves and Hokowhitu with one round to play.
It wasn't the greatest of starts for the soon-to-be crowned champions, with Levin hungry for points right from the off and quickly getting a two-goal lead to put City in a position they'd never been in all season.
Through the 18 games that have been played, Francis' squad had never gone behind on the scoresheet, let alone been put in the position to chase a two-goal deficit.
But it didn't take long for City to find their rhythm and start to control the match, and put on a performance worthy of the title of champions.
