What do Prime Minister John Key, artist Dick Frizzell, musician Jordan Luck, Governor General Jerry Mateparae, and boxer Shane Cameron have in common?
All have donated artwork to the Amazing Turakina Art Expo, which closes next weekend.
The expo, organised by the Turakina School Friends & Whanau Group, is a fundraiser for the school. Co-organisers Lois Smith and Julie Perkins said they approached local and national artists and celebrities and asked them to donate artworks to the expo.
The list of 117 they've come up with is impressive: politicians John Key, David Cunliffe, Pita Sharples, Ian McKelvie and Jerry Mateparae; artists Dick Frizzell, Sharlene Schmidt, Catherine Macdonald, David Traub, Ivan Vostinar, Mark Brimblecombe, Rena Star, Denita Tizard and Prakash Patel; broadcasters Matt Watson, Simon Barnett and Gary McCormick; and musicians James Reid, Jordan Luck and members of Fat Freddy's Drop.
Nineteen inmates from Whanganui Prison also donated works. Boxer Shane Cameron donated a pair of his boxing gloves, and Rangitikei mayor Andy Watson donated a rugby shirt signed by every member of the English rugby team.
