Wanganui's iconic No12 tram will carry its first paying passengers in 64 years on Monday.
Wanganui Tramways Trust trustee Ed Boyd said it would be an exciting day and reward for the many years of hard work volunteers had put into restoring the vintage electric tram and its tracks.
"It's a wonderful thing."
The tram last operated in 1950 and was donated by Dave Harre in the 1990s. Since then, the trust and the Wanganui District Council have worked together to get the tram operating again.
After this weekend, Mr Boyd said the trust hoped it could run the tram at least one day a week.
