Senior constable Phillip Randal attended a car crash at the Crofton intersection of Wellington and Makirikiri roads just last Tuesday.
He's hoping that a new, reduced speed limit at the hamlet on the outskirts of Marton means it will be a long time before he attends another.
Rangitikei Mayor Andy Watson unveiled the signs on Friday, reducing the speed limit from 100km/h to 70km/h at the intersection where crashes were said to be a "fairly regular occurrence".
He said the safety measure had been a long time coming.
Residents had been asking for a reduction to 70km/h for several years, but New Zealand Transport Agency regulations meant it had been a slow process.
