For the fifth year in a row the South Taranaki District Council has been named Kenexa Best Workplaces Award as one of the best workplaces in New Zealand.
Last Friday in Auckland the council was inducted into the Kenexa Five Year League Hall of Fame which means the council is now one of just nine organisations in the country with the honour and the only local body.
Council chief executive Craig Stevenson said the result was great news for many reasons.
"Our workforce is more productive, more innovative and more highly committed and these factors result in better service to our citizens."
Also the council attracts high calibre employees, he said.
Mr Stevenson believes the council rates highly because of the quality of its people and the strong organisational culture.
"People here have that positive attitude when they feel they are being valued and they are making an important contribution."
The council took fourth place overall for the medium-large workplace category (150 to 399 employees) but it is the fifth year that the council has achieved a finalist (top 10) placing.
The organisations in the hall of fame are: AA Insurance, ADInstruments, Hyundai Motors New Zealand, Inspire Group, Mars New Zealand, Maven International, Overland Footwear, South Taranaki District Council, Southern Cross Health Society and Trade Me.
The survey is New Zealand's largest annual workplace climate-employee engagement survey. A record 39,000 employees from 240 organisations across the country took part in the survey this year.
