Police are continuing to conduct tests to determine how a nine-year-old boy died at his home at Raetihi, north of Wanganui, yesterday.

The boy was found dead by a family member just before 6am and a post-mortem examination was completed last night.

Detective Senior Sergeant Keith Borrell said further tests were being carried out to determine the cause of death.

``Once all the test results are back we will have a clearer picture of how the boy died. We are still making inquiries and have a number of people including family members to speak to.''

A scene examination was also still in progress.
