The solo mum hesitated about going to study but there was plenty of support and the reward of finishing had been more than she ever imagined.
"I didn't know if I had the brain power to go back but I kept telling myself, knowledge is never a waste and it was about the learning.
"There was also a Massey support page on Facebook which was helpful. There were a lot of single mums and fulltime workers I could relate to."
Ms Chambers was working as a real estate agent for Watsons in Whanganui while distance studying with Massey University in Palmerston North.
She is continuing to work for Watsons Real Estate but the textbook learning isn't completely over.
In order to become a registered valuer, Ms Chambers has three years of "shadowing" as well as completing another four papers - including more exams.
Ms Chambers will spend one day a week shadowing for Morgans Property Advisors where she will work fulltime once she becomes registered.
"It has been really satisfying to put all my textbook learning in to practice ... finally," she said.
Ken Pawson, owner of Morgans, said the company was very pleased to have her on board as she brought strong market knowledge and great people skills.
"We are mindful to avoid any perception of conflict of interest and it's our company policy to keep full separation between valuations Chrissy is involved with and properties
Watsons have listed," Mr Pawson said.
Ms Chambers has always been interested in the property market and said getting to this point had been a real achievement.
"If I can do it, anyone can."
