It's World Iron Awareness Week, so The Country host Jamie Mackay had a chat to Dr Kathryn Beck to find out how much red meat we should be eating to keep up our weekly iron intake.
Senior lecturer at Massey University, Dr Beck says red meat is not the only way to get iron into your diet. Fish, chicken and seafood are also good sources of iron.
How about those of us who don't eat meat at all? There are other options such as beans, lentils and eggs to name a few.
The big question is - how many servings of red meat should we eat a week and is it possible to eat too much?
