Good news this week in the world of dairy with the $6.50 Fonterra milk price forecast for next season, not to mention the $6.15 price for this season. The Country's Dom George asked DairyNZ CEO Dr Tim Mackle for his opinion on a big week.
Although things are looking great at the moment Dr Mackle says DairyNZ is going to "keep beating the drum" around maintaining competitiveness and profitability. Debt is another issue that DairyNZ is focusing on.
Dr Tim Mackle's general message is "things have been pretty jolly tough in those two years of low milk prices, but next time it happens...it doesn't have to be as tough and that's what we've got to set ourselves up for now".
