Multisport athlete Chris Townley is at it again, attempting to do two full circuits of the Motu Challenge in Opotiki.
The Motu Challenge is one of the toughest multisport events in New Zealand, with the winner from last year's event finishing in a time of 7h 43m 59s.
Rotorua's Townley tried to complete the 172km circuit back-to-back in 2011 but fell short following a problem with his equipment.
"I attempted it a few years ago and the bike broke. I finished the first lap at night and then the bike broke about 40km [into the official race].
"My plan is to start on Friday night then go through the night and be on the start line on Saturday morning."
