The four round fight saw neither fighter land a scoring shot in the first round, however, by the end of the second the scores were level 2-2. But in the third the Hungarian moved ahead 5-2 and in the fourth and final round the Hungarian finished strongly to end the bout 7-2.
Her teammate Roxaine Duff, 15, also from Murupara and training out of the same gym, has made the final of her age group.
Duff who is guaranteed at least silver will fight an opponent from Kazakhstan this morning.
The youngster's opponent has had more than 100 fights compared with Duff's 10 but Rotorua and New Zealand boxing coach Aaron Warren told The Daily Post yesterday he was confident Duff could go all the way.
Duff said she would look to be sharp, hard and fast in the final and was also confident she had the skills to match her opponent.
It has been a whirlwind experience for the two youngsters who started boxing just over a year ago.
Sorenson told The Daily Post before she left for Serbia, it was the first time she had been on a plane and the furthest she had travelled prior to this trip was Wellington last year, when she competed at the New Zealand Boxing nationals where both girls won gold.
The girls are a part of a six-strong New Zealand team competing at the event. They are joined by Rotorua trio Aaron Warren, Lee Edmond and Tanya Warren who are also part of the team's support crew.
The team is expected to return to New Zealand tomorrow.
