Rotorua firefighters have enjoyed a quiet Guy Fawkes weekend, without a single firework-related call-out.
Rotorua Fire Brigade senior station officer Jim Prescott said as of Sunday evening, the crew had not been to a single incident relating to fireworks.
This is down on last year when there were three call-outs in Rotorua.
"We have had a wet few weeks and a rainy weekend. This could be why we haven't seen vegetation fires and also perhaps less people were using fireworks."
Prescott said they were pleased to see the decline, but there was still a chance they could occur with firework-related incidents generally running right through to the new year.
