The Greenlea Rescue Helicopter was kept busy at the weekend being dispatched to several jobs.

A woman with a medical condition was flown to Waikato Hospital on Friday evening.

Deteriorating weather conditions meant a return night flight was not desirable, so the helicopter returned to Taupo on Saturday morning.

Later that day a man was transported to Rotorua Hospital with a serious concussion and possible spinal injuries after a fall from a motorbike on a trail ride.

On Sunday the helicopter was again called out, this time to the Central Plateau to assist another patient with a serious medical complaint.

Earlier in the week, the Greenlea Rescue Helicopter crew also completed their training for a specialist group of night-hoist capable paramedics.

This team are able to be hoisted out of the helicopter in the dark when required in extreme circumstances.
