McDonald's will give away free breakfasts this Monday morning to celebrate 20 years of serving Kiwis breakfast.

McDonald's Rotorua, Te Ngae and Fairy Springs, and 127 other restaurants around the country, will each give out 1000 free Bacon and Egg McMuffins from 7am to 10am.

McDonald's Rotorua franchisees Rob and Linley Parry said they wanted to make Monday morning easy for locals.

"Monday mornings can be tough for everyone so we wanted to make early easy. There's no catch but you will need to set your alarm early to enjoy this iconic breakfast favourite on the house - first in, first served so the early bird will get the bacon," said Mr Parry.

"It may be our breakfast's birthday, but locals will get the present. To put the number of Bacon and Egg McMuffins we are giving to locals into perspective, it is enough to feed every Fordlands resident once and a half."

The offer will be followed up over the next month with four other free breakfast offers.
