Your Story: Fordlands head to Waka Ama champs


In February last year a local woman, from Fordlands brought 8 young men from different schools and created Fordlands' first Waka Ama Team.


They have trained together since Feb 2012 and in November entered the Regional races.


In less than one week Fordlands team will be entering the Waka Ama Nationals 2013.


The step up to the Nationals is a major leap but they have been training hard.


Ko te Tuara o Totara have been very supportive of the team from the very beginning.


Waka Ama nationals start on the 15th and 16th of January, this is the biggest Nationals ever recorded.


The team is very excited and know they are up against major competition but the team have a 3 year plan which includes being selected for the World Championships to be held in August 2014 at Rio De Janiero.
