The people organising the community Christmas lunch for Rotorua's needy and lonely this year are rapt with the response from the community but still need support to pull off the community celebration lunch.
The annual lunch is now hosted by combined Rotorua churches and will be held at St Johns Church on Ranolf St starting at midday on Christmas Day.
Organiser Catherine Gettins said there had been an "amazing response" to their call for food and support but they still needed more food and help to prepare the meal on the day.
If you have any food or money to give, someone will be at the church on Friday, December 21, between 9am and midday, collecting for the event.
Then on Sunday at 2pm they hoped people would pop along to the church to help peel vegetables and prepare for the lunch.
"Bring your own vegetable peeler and be prepared to operate [it]," Mrs Gettins said.
They still need chicken drum sticks, vegetables, kumara, pumpkin, potatoes, ice cream, lollies and gifts to give to the children aged between 1 and 16.
They need people to entertain the multitude expected to turn up on the day. If you can help please phone Catherine Gettins on (07) 349 2460. Also ring if you want to register for the day or need a lift to attend. Money for the lunch can be banked into BNZ account 11 6100 0017915 11.
