Every patch of grass in the Government Gardens will be taken over by art this Sunday as the annual Art in the Park event takes place.

It has been running for more than 15 years by the Rotorua Arts Village Experience (RAVE) and this year features more than 60 local and regional artists and musical acts to keep everyone entertained. Art in the Park is an event created as an outlet for local creative people to show off their skills and talents. Not only will you see items for sale, you will also be able to watch artists at work.

RAVE communications representative Julia Steele said there was a huge range of artistic styles on show and for sale on the weekend.

"Last year's was so popular that all the sites have been snapped up for this year," she said.

Also at Art in the Park will be Jill Walker and Julie Voss who will be on hand to help pimp out bikes ready for the bike parade as part of the Rotorua Bike Festival.

Catering will be done by staff and parents from Rudolph Steiner Kindergartens as part of their annual fund-raiser.
