Crash victim comes out of intensive care

A man critically injured in Thursday night's crash on Maunganui Rd remains in hospital.

A Bay of Plenty District Health Board spokesman said the 41-year-old crash victim was in a stable condition.

The Mount Maunganui man was being moved out of intensive care and into a ward.

He was injured when his car hit the back of a parked truck near Blake Park on Thursday night.

He was found several metres from the badly damaged car and both police and witnesses to the crash said he could have been thrown from the vehicle.
