A police car has been involved in a multiple car crash on one of Mount Maunganuis busiest stretches of road.

Emergency services have been called to Hewletts Rd after a crash was reported at 8.50am, a police spokeswoman said.

She confirmed that a police vehicle was involved ''but we don't believe there are any injures''.

The spokeswoman said multiple vehicles were involved in the crash, near Hocking St.

It is understood people have suffered minor injuries.
