Police have charged a man and a woman, and are looking for a second man, after a gunpoint robbery at Mangonui.
The two who have been arrested have been charged with aggravated robbery with further charges possible.
A police spokesperson said three people, one of them armed with a .22 rifle, entered the victims' home at 10.55pm on Thursday.
A 45-year-old woman was struck in the head or face with the butt and barrel of the rifle, the woman then attacking her with a pair of fencing pliers.
The third offender also assaulted her.
The woman suffered a broken arm and lesser injuries to her legs, body and head.
Meanwhile, a 57-year-old man was also struck on the head with the rifle, initial reports claiming that the barrel was placed in his mouth while he was told to empty his pockets.
Car keys were also demanded, but could not be found.
The male victim was also struck on the legs, and the rifle was discharged as the offenders left the address.
Cash and possibly a phone were taken.
