Northland's run as the hottest place in the country could continue as the region misses out on unsettled weather elsewhere.
Whangarei was the hottest place in the country for a second day in a row on Tuesday, with 29.2C following Monday's 29.9C recorded at Marsden Pt. Kerikeri was the third hottest place on Tuesday with 27.2C.
The official temperatures are collected from a louvred box at Whangarei Airport and the thermometer would have reached up to 4C higher inland.
MetService forecaster Tuporo Marsters said some far from perfect weather elsewhere had seen Northland top the temperature charts on Monday and Tuesday and it may well have the top temperature again yesterday, with only Gisborne pushing it close at edition time.
"It will be a little bit cooler than those highs though over the next few days as the south-westerly flow hits," he said.
