A passing logging truck struck a major power pole in Dargaville yesterday causing a power cut in the town.
Auckland Fire Communications shift manager Scott Osmond said the incident happened at 3:40pm.
Firefighters and police attended at the scene and began assisting with traffic, which was heavily congested.
Northpower public affairs manager Steve Macmillan said that 117 people were without power while the company's technicians worked to fix the damaged pole.
The power pole on the corner of Awakino Rd and Normanby Rd had a double circuit on it, meaning the repair job was a major one for the technicians.
