New traffic controlling one of Napier's busiest main road contortions will be switched on on Tuesday night.
The lights will govern traffic around the Kennedy Rd intersections with Maadi Rd and Wycliffe St, and will be in use from 8pm on Tuesday.
Napier City Council director infrastructure Jon Kingsford saiddedicated phases will give waiting cyclists a green light earlier than motorists, a type of facility only recently introduced in New Zealand.
Mr Kingsford urges people to be patient just a little longer, as it will take a little time for everyone to adjust to the changes.
NCC carried out several traffic surveys as the project developed, finding that at peak times, particularly during the morning and evening peak periods, over 1500 vehicles pass through in an hour, making it one of the busiest vehicle routes in Napier.
