The 60th annual Fryer Cup music competition was held at the Central Hawke's Bay College Hall last Friday.

The event showcases the musical talent of students at the college with individual, small group and full choirs competing for their respective houses.

This year the set piece was California Dreamin and the overall theme was music from the 1960s.

The competitions were held over two days, with Grey House announced the overall winners for the second year running, also taking out the Margaret Fryer Cup for house choirs.

Principal Lance Christiansen said the highlight of the performances was the senior duet of Taeisha Pratt and Terelle McLean with their rendition of I Know Him So Well from Chess.

"As always, our outstanding student talent was on display and performances were of the highest quality.

"It is a real credit to the students and to Nicola Harrison who does such a fantastic job with music at the college."
