Part of a building on Victoria Street has collapsed and that part of the road is blocked off as emergency services attend.
The building affected is the 1920s Railway Building near Centreplace.
Tainui Group Holdings owns the old Railway Building and told Stuff.co.nz earlier this month that it would be demolished for health and safety reasons.
It is not listed as a heritage building.

There are reports that a person had been inside the building but is now out.
More to come.
