Promotion for Hamilton MP

MP Hamilton West MP Tim Macindoe is thrilled with his election as Junior Government Whip at the first Caucus meeting of the year for National MPs.

"I am humbled and delighted to have received the backing of my colleagues to step up to this important role in our caucus," says Mr Macindoe.

"The Whips are responsible for ensuring the Government's business runs smoothly and that all MPs understand and fulfil their day-to-day tasks in the Parliamentary setting."

Mr Macindoe will relinquish his role as chairman of the Justice and Electoral Select Committee to focus on his new tasks.

"This promotion is another encouraging acknowledgement of my work in my electorate and in Parliament during my four years as Hamilton West's MP."

His Waikato colleague, Taupo MP Louise Upston, has been promoted to the Senior Whip's position, replacing Michael Woodhouse MP who was appointed Minister of Immigration in a Cabinet reshuffle.
