A great weekend of Spring Festival events has delighted members of Dannevirke Rotary, the co-ordinators of the event.
"My golly it was a great weekend," Rotary member Tim Delaney said. "The Totara College Garden and Craft Expo had 17 new stalls this year and is getting back to what itused to be in its heyday. It seems the Spring Festival has really taken off and how good it was to have one weekend with so many events on to attract visitors to Dannevirke."
Mr Delaney said he's thrilled with the response.
"So far it's been a great Spring Festival, with more to come on Friday with the Viking market day," he said.
"I'm absolutely thrilled locals clubs and organisations have made the festival such a success. They have done a great job and built up their own events. It's been superb."
With a warm 20C on Saturday and 18C on Sunday, it was ideal weather for people to visit the events and 25 motorhome enthusiasts parked up at the showgrounds for two days to allow members to enjoy all Dannevirke had to offer.
Tararua District mayor Roly Ellis said the events brought people into town and opened their eyes to what Dannevirke has to offer.
"People must have spent money while they were here too.
"We were exceptionally lucky with the weather and out-of-towners I talked to commented on how friendly people are here. It's all good promotion for Dannevirke and the Tararua."
