Whanganui is attracting increasing numbers of new residents from all over New Zealand and the world, Mayor Hamish McDouall says.
Speaking at a ceremony earlier this month to welcome a group of new citizens, McDouall said he appreciated "this wonderful diversity".
"Our new arrivals enrich our community with new perspectives and culture.
"People are choosing to migrate to Whanganui and our popularity is reflected in the increasing number of citizenship ceremonies we are hosting."
New citizens welcomed at the latest ceremony were Tipmaryann Mao (Cambodian), Yvet Mae Segovia Alelis (Filipino), Raymund Serisola Alelis (Filipino), Johanna Cornelia Coetzee (South African), Andre Stefan Momberg Coetzee (South African), Corne Vladimir Coetzee (South African), Ingemar Jan Coetzee (South African), Radu-Dorin Popa (Romanian), Gabriela-Mihaela Popa (Romanian), Candice Rosslee (South African), Glenn Rosslee (South African), John Randy Sa (Samoan), Manjot Singh (Indian), Soniya George (Indian), Paul John Jackman (British) and Sophie Irene Tang (Chinese).
