Written by Steven Canny and John Nicholson, adapted from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's famous Sherlock Holmes novel, The Hounds of the Baskervilles is on at the 16th Ave Theatre over the next couple of weeks.

"Expect a fast-paced, thrill ride. It's very fast and very funny," says director Liam Hagan.

The mad-cap, mile-a-minute, adaptation depicts the brilliant detective Sherlock and his plucky sidekick Dr Watson solving the case of the mysterious curse threatening the Baskerville family.

Only three people make up the cast, Matt Glover, Marcus Blumson and Dylan Frewin. Misadventure and hilarity ensue as the three actors switch wildly in and out of different characters to tell one of the most famous detective stories ever written.

While having such a small cast adds challenge to their performance, it appealed to Hagan.

"The script is very funny and I like the idea of a small cast as I feel a bit more involved - like I'm in the trenches with them," he said.
