The Stitches of Reflection exhibition features a collection of new work by award-winning artist Tammie Rose Riddle. Tammie is a cubist painter from Manawatu and her passion for art started at an early age while undertaking home-schooling, then substantially in 2009 under the tutorage of New Zealand artist Rita Easther.
Tammie was influenced by Easther's work and the traditional cubist works of Barque, Picasso and Metzinger.
She began to paint cubist landscapes of the Rangitikei region and paints in acrylic and oil using a unique system that is meticulous in its detail and highly expressive in its treatment and her paintings are known for their distinct style and bold colours.
"My aspiration is to create pieces that are engrossing in detail and technique, while giving the viewer an emotional experience they keep returning to. "My art allowed me to find the truth and love within my soul and then throw this passion at every painting. This art leaves a trail of storytelling. Pain, imagination and beauty that is never forgotten. Cubism lines create fields of distance, unity of embraces that gives each work an atmosphere that sets them apart."
Tammie has exhibited widely and has work in several public and private international collections.
