Woolsheds are not just for sheep and hay bales are not just for feeding out.
A must-see evening of music, theatre and comedy is taking place all over the North Island, and this weekend Te Puke is having its turn. So find a hay bale and make yourself comfy, because Sons of a Bitch and Mel Parsons are in our neck of the woods with a new show.
Country bumpkin Amelia Dunbar and city slicker Emma Newborn once again attempt to bridge the urban/rural divide the only way they know how - by playing dogs.
They present their signature, fast-paced new show, Sons of a Bitch. This is the sequel to The Bitches' Box, that was a hit with audiences from Edendale to Edinburgh, from wool sheds to glittering festivals worldwide.
The pair is joined on the tour by award-winning folk/country artist Mel Parsons who brings a new solo show following on from her critically acclaimed new album Drylands. With a razor sharp wit and deft hand on the guitar, Parsons is one of the country's favourite globe trotting singer-songwriters. She will sing a swag of new songs, and old favourites to fall in love with at the show in Te Puke.
Parsons is the winner of the 2016 NZ Country Song of the Year, and was also a 2015 finalist for the prestigious APRA Silver Scroll Award. The performance is preceded by a fundraiser barbecue supporting Te Ranga School.
