AquinasThe future of athletics at Aquinas College looks strong indeed if the recent results of junior runners are an indication.

Year 7 and 8 students performed extremely well at the recent Bay of Plenty Secondary School and Middle School Multisport Event.
In the Junior Boys category Aquinas took home two of the top three placings thanks to efforts by James Sharp who finished first, and Liam McFall who came third.
Not to be outdone, the girls' also ensured they did their college proud. Dana Welton finished third in the Year 8 Girls' and Aquinas also achieved both first and third placings in the Year 7/8 Teams' Event. Those in the winning team were Caitlin Tavendale, Jennifer Hume, Taylah Stack and in third position Alex Dawick, Nikki Arn's and Courtney Tamblin.

Te Puke
The Fusion 1st XI girls hockey team played against Aquinas College on Tuesday night. With our usual goalie away we were able to call upon Rebecca Scott from the 2nd XI. Rebecca made some brilliant saves in the first half and worked well with the two backs Innes Linton and Tiearere Stephens.
The score at half time was nil all. After the halftime talk the team came out with more determination which resulted in goal from a penalty corner by Annalise Harte. Aquinas struck back and scored.
The next goal scored was by Jade Beaver from great field play and we went one goal up. Aquinas again struck back with the game ending in a 2 all draw. Player of the match was awarded to both Shontelle Thomas and Lisa McMeikan who worked tirelessly throughout the whole game.
Tuesday night was the first competition game of the season and the team was up against Mount College 1st XI. The Mount team was a skilful and well drilled unit which produced wave after wave of attacks. At halftime, Te Puke was only 1-0 down due to good defensive work by all players and some great saves by Josh Reha in his first year as goalie. Te Puke had intermittent chances on attack but just lacked the ruthless finishing of the Mount team. Final score 4-0.
The EastPack senior A team got off to a rocky start to the season, losing to Bethlehem College and Tauranga Girls College in the first two rounds. However, Friday night's third round of Harbourside collegiate netball saw the team producing an excellent performance against Tauranga league 2, despite only having seven front-line players available, winning 40-34. Anahera Dinsdale was chosen as player of the day for a great game at wing defence, despite carrying an injury.

The girls had more success, however, with a good 4-0 win.
The Tauranga representative teams have also begun their season. In these teams we have a number of BC players. In the girls under 18 team, Hannah Marshall, Rose Keddell and Nikki Furmage have been selected.
