Pāpāmoa Hills Regional Park will reopen Wednesday following a death in the area.

A police spokeswoman said police attended a sudden death at the park on Sunday which appeared to be a medical event.

Bay of Plenty Regional Council said Pāpāmoa Hills would remain closed until 1pm Wednesday November 10 after a rāhui was put in place following the death.

"Our thoughts are with whānau at this sad time and we ask you to respect the rāhui," the council said.
