A Tauranga motorcyclist is in a serious condition following a collision with a car.

Bay of Plenty District Health Board spokeswoman Diana Marriott said a 64-year-old Tauranga man remains in a serious condition at Tauranga Hospital.

Emergency services were called to the scene at the intersection of Devonport Rd and 11th Ave after a motorcyclist and a car collided just before 2pm.

A police spokesperson said the motorcyclist was taken to hospital in a serious condition.

"The driver of the car left the scene initially, but has since been located."
