An aggravated robbery has occurred at Busy Bee Dairy in Mount Maunganui.
A police media spokesperson said on August 6, at 7pm, two men entered the small shop on Maunganui Rd armed with a baseball bat and a hammer.
The men stole cash, cigarettes and tobacco as well as causing some damage to the store, the police statement read.
The men were described as Maori.
Both men were wearing dark clothing and had dark scarves over their faces.
One of the men was thought to be aged between 18 and 20-years-old and had a small amount of facial hair.
The event was understandably traumatising for the staff at the dairy.
Police were asking anyone with any information on this crime, or know of cigarettes being sold cheaply by individuals, to call Tauranga Central Police on (07) 577 4300.
