A Gate Pa man accused of attempting to rob a Tauranga liquor store owner with a knife is now behind bars pending a bail hearing.
Aaron James Junior Potter Hone, 22, faced one charge each of shoplifting and assault with intent to rob while armed with an offensive weapon, when he briefly appeared in Tauranga District Court this morning.
Police have alleged Hone attempted to rob Greerton Liquor store owner Karamjit Kaur on February 17 with a knife, and also stole two tee shirts valued at $80 from Tauranga Warehouse the next day.
Hone, who appeared before Judge Heather Simpson, did not seek bail.
Judge Simpson remanded Hone in custody by consent.
