The geo-textile material that washed up at Omanu Beach yesterday afternoon has been confirmed to be a part of the artificial Mount surf reef.
Bay of Plenty Regional Council has confirmed the large carpet-looking material was part of the surf reef and said it was in the process of gettingquotes for removing the remaining part of the reef.
Further assessment of the state of the reef would take place once sea conditions allowed.
