The reason behind Phil Rudd's arrest

AC/DC rocker Phil Rudd will return to his Bureta mansion after appearing in Tauranga District Court this morning charged with breaching his home detention conditions.

Rudd, 61, stood motionless in the dock at court today where Judge Louis Bidois remanded Rudd without plea until August 3, when he's expected to reappear at court.

Wearing a white polo shirt, Rudd was mostly expressionless while his matter was being dealt with until the moment media began taking his photo.

Crown prosecutor Anna Pollett sought to add an extra condition to Rudd's home detention sentence - that Rudd be subject to drug and alcohol testing when requested by New Zealand Police. The condition was granted.
The rest of Rudd's home detention conditions, including no possesion or consumption of alcohol or any other illicit drug, continue.

There was no police opposition to Rudd's bail.

Rudd was arrested on Saturday on a breach of his home detention conditions relating to the possession and consumption of alcohol.

Rudd's arrest comes little more than a week after he was convicted and sentenced to eight months' home detention.
