More heavy rain is expected to fall this afternoon in the Western Bay of Plenty and Tauranga City Council is bracing itself for more surface flooding.
Council spokesman Marcel Currin said while there were no city roads closed, although Roxanne Place, Barberry Place, 17th Avenue and Clarke Street had all impacted by flooding.
Mr Currin asked motorists to please drive slowly around or through surface flooding so vehicles didn't send bow waves into neighbouring properties.
Tauranga's Historic Village has significant surface flooding but it remains open.
