The Western Bay of Plenty District Council has been recognised as one of the top performing organisations in New Zealand by receiving a prestigious business award.
The council was given a Foundation Business Excellence Gold award from The New Zealand Business Excellence Foundation.
The Bay of Plenty District Health Board was also commended at the awards, receiving a bronze award for its dedication to best practice achievement.
In 2009, Western Bay council was the first local authority in the history of the awards to be awarded silver as a first-time entrant.
Council received the gold award at a gala luncheon at Coopers Mystery Creek in Hamilton today.
The New Zealand Business Excellence Awards are administered by the New Zealand Business Excellence Foundation and are based on international criteria using a rigorous four-step assessment process.
