Tauranga City Council will change the fee for the city centre's premium $3 per hour parking zone to $2 per hour from Monday 23 September.
This is a response to public feedback and to ongoing discussions that the Council has had with the Mainstreet board and city centre businessess about the parking fees that were introduced 1 July 2013.
Transportation Manager, Martin Parkes, says that the removal of time restrictions in the city centre has been well received, but feedback about the $3 fee in the premium blue zone has prompted the council to lower the price.
Parking fees and charges were approved under Tauranga City Council's Annual Plan with flexibility that gives the Transportation Manager authority to raise or lower parking fees up to 50% as required.
The $3 per hour fee will change to $2 per hour from Monday 23 September.
