Don't let your citrus fruit go to waste.

Community Fruit Harvesting volunteers are available to pick the fruit and give it to charity.

Community Fruit Harvesting Co-ordinator for Tauranga Martin Stewart said it looked like it would be a bumper citrus season.

The group have already been collecting oranges, grapefruit, lemons, tangelos, limes and kiwifruit for the local foodbank, schools and The Society of St Vincent de Paul.

The organisation currently needs donations of sugar and glass bottles, and help from people who can help turn the fruit into jam and marmalade or pick fruit and drop it off to local charities.
