A digger worth more than $50,000 is among the property stolen from a Mount Maunganui business.

Detective Sergeant Darryl Brazier said burglars cut a hole in the wire fence around Newton Rd business sometime during the weekend.

A padlock was then cut allowing them to leave through the front gate.

The stolen property consists of a distinctive earthmoving excavator on a trailer.

The digger is a blue Airman AX1.7 sign written with Porter Hire. It was on a silver McLeod trailer, license plate number K961K.
